The browser was deployed with out the typical debugger plugins like Observepoint or Omniture debugger. The developers were not able to modify the browser to allow of plugins.

What's a brotha to do?

Well, you can see Adobe Analytics network traffic by "inspecting" it. Following the steps below.

Problem:
Need to see Adobe Analytics (Omniture Sitecatalyst) network traffic with using the Omniture debugger or Observepoint

Solution:
1) Open your web browser.
2) Right click on the background of your destination web site.
3) Click "Inspect"

4) Click "Network
5) In the filter box type "/ss/"
6) Click the results in the name field
7) Click the "Headers" tab
7) Notice Adobe Analytics traffic under Headers tab

So, we all know that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones are catching fire at an alarming rate. These phone are hot! Not hot as in good, but hot as in "burning down your house".

Samsung issued a recall on these phones and the replacement phones proved to be no better than the original "pocket fire crackers".

So, one might ask, why are these replacement phone causing fires at the same rate as the original "fire starters". Surely, a company like Samsung with billions at stake could find the cause and fix it. Right?

We all were informed that the cause of these mini meltdowns was flawed lithium ion batteries. Lithium ion batteries are not new. It was thought that replacing these batteries would resolve the issue, but it has not. That's because the issue is not solely a hardware battery issue. The cause of these fires is most likely a flawed charging algorithm embedded in the firmware of the phone.

So, some of you may ask: "What is firmware". According to About.com, "Firmware is software that is embedded in a piece of hardware. You can think of firmware simply as 'software for hardware.'"

The flaw could be a simple coding bug or even a firmware virus. I knew of a really smart guy who theorized about a virus that could live in the firmware of a network printer. The virus would spread through the network and infect computers as most computer viruses do. Different from most viruses, this virus would retreat to the firmware and lie dormant until after the network was cleaned and re-infect the network later. The same could be in effect some these Samsung blow torch phones.

The conventional wisdom of replacing parts and issuing re-calls says that if the problem is isolated to a specific item/part then replace that item/part. Unfortunately, if the replacements are showing the same level of failure, then you have to look at the system in which the replace item/part resides and the surrounding environment which makes that item/part work.

So, you heard it hear first. Samsung's exploding phone problem is directly related to the firmware. All of the evidence points to it.

What do you think?

I recently attended a few workshops on the future on AI (Artificial Intelligence). There is a growing concern that the proliferation of AI could spell financial doom for those hard working Americans whose jobs are replaced by AI.

Cnet.com quoted President Obama in an article titled “Obama: Don't let AI Impoverish American Citizens”

“ ‘High-skill folks do very well in these systems. They can leverage their talents, they can interface with machines to extend their reach, their sales, their products and services,’ Obama said. ‘Low-wage, low-skill individuals become more and more redundant, and their jobs may not be replaced, but wages are suppressed.’

One possible fix he mentioned is a ‘universal income’ to redistribute money and ensure ‘folks have a living income,’ though he also said that would be politically difficult for a lot of people to accept. “

Let’s address this statement on “Universal Income”. You damn right that mess is difficult to accept. That is absurd! This sounds like Communism to me! Capitalism should always be the focus over Communism!

Capitalism, automation and industrialization have ALWAYS been good for the economy. Back in 1450, being a scribe was a very lucrative career choice. Scribes manually copied books painstakingly copying each word by hand. Some books took years to copy. In 1450, most Europeans where illiterate, the supply of books was limited (by today’s standards), books were rare, very expensive and owned only by the wealthy. Then, Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press and AUTOMATED the process of creating books. The result was drastic. Scribes unemployment was at an all-time high, but knowledge flourished. The end result was an economic boom which lead to the industrial revolution 300+ years later.

In France, during the industrial revolution, an inventor named Barthelemy Thimonnier had invented a sewing machine and was making a good living sewing uniforms for the French Army until a mob of angry tailors burned his shop to the ground. As we all know, tailors are still needed today, perhaps not as many tailors as in 1840. Textiles, fashion and hundreds of other industries were created by or are much stronger now than they were in the 19th century primarily from automation.

My statement to our President: “Don’t create policies like a fearful French tailor from the 19th century.” Embrace the change without creating social crutches calling it “Universal Income”. In other words, "Don't be no punk about artificial intelligence!"

Years after the industrial revolution men like Henry Ford made billions of dollars by assembling and curating raw materials such as iron and rubber. The result of his assembling and curating raw materials was automobiles which could be sold at a nice profit.

Today, the newest game is the assembling and the curating of bits. Bits are binary digits. According to Wikipedia "A bit is the basic unit of information in computing and digital communications. A bit can have only one of two values, and may therefore be physically implemented with a two-state device. The most common representation of these values are 0and1. The term bit is a portmanteau of binary digit." Every piece of computer data is composed of bits. The Netflix video that you watched last night is composed of bits. Your Facebook images are composed of bits. This article is a compilation of bits.

Google is the biggest player in the assembling and the curating of bits. They have masterfully assembled and curated bits that you can't live without and charge a referral fee to advertisers for sending you to see their bits. Henry Ford could only wish he could make money like this. According to Mashable.com, top bits that were searched on in 2013 in the United States include:
Boston Marathon
Government Shutdown
VMAs
Tornado in Moore, Okla.
Royal Baby
Zimmerman Trial
Typhoon Haiyan
New Pope
Syria Conflict
Mayweather versus Canelo

Unlike Netflix or Facebook, the majority of accessed bits from Google are text which is easy to store and retrieve. Video and images require much more computing resources to manage.
A New Jersey court just gave an opinion that I find a bit disturbing. We all know that texting and driving can be just as dangerous as drinking and driving. Distracted drivers kills thousands per year thus a New Jersey judge recently stated the following: “We hold that the sender of a text message can potentially be liable if an accident is caused by texting, but only if the sender knew or had special reason to know that the recipient would view the text while driving and thus be distracted.”.

Seriously? How is it the responsibility of the sender of a text message? The courts are over stepping their bounds here. As a resident of the state of New Jersey, I require a deeper explanation here. Am I liable if I send a Facebook instant message to a friend while he/she is driving? Am I liable if I send an email to a friend while he/she is driving? Online faxing services can be configured to send automated text messages to the recipient. Am I liable if I know that the recipient has this fax alert feature enabled and I knowingly send a fax to that person? I have my Orbitz account configured to send me text alerts for flight status updates when I travel. If Orbitz sends me a flight status update while I am driving to the airport, then can't we assume that Orbitz should have known or made a reasonable assumption that I would be driving during the receiving of these text messages.

I probably send text messages to people that I know are driving all of the time. I make an assumption that they will read those messages when it is safe. In New Jersey, I can't do that anymore. What do you think?
This year Blackberry launched its Blackberry 10 model to
compete with iPhone and Android.
Coupled with the launch was the announcement of Alicia Keys as “Creative

one of the most talented artists today. However, having Alicia Keys as “Creative

Blackberry’s Fundamental Problem: APPS!

Back in 2006, I investigated the possibility of developing
apps for the Blackberry. It was a
complete nightmare! Blackberry required
me to develop my app separately for every different model of Blackberry phone. At the time there were 6 models that I was
targeting, thus I would have had to develop my app 6 different times. This was insane!

Most consumers choose iPhone/Android for the bountiful
supply of apps available. I predicted Blackberry’s demise before version 10
launched. The only thing that could have
saved them was an easy way for Android developers (or iPhone developers) to port their apps to
Blackberry. Blackberry engineers should
have built in a Linux emulator which could easily run Android apps. These apps could
have been ported to the Blackberry app store.
Blackberry could have had an easy acceptance program by automatically
accepting apps which had been approved by Google/Apple.

Most sane developers have chosen to avoid Blackberry for (1)
Lack of market share and (2) Lack of a development platform that could port existing code.

Today, it was announced that Blackberry is up sale. This should be of no big surprise to

As many of you know, I am the Chief Marketing Officer for Around The Way app. This app allows you to find the closest Black-owned business to your current location thus I am passionate about supporting Black-owned businesses.

Unfortunately, too many African Americans love showing other folks (mainly non-African Americans) how much money they have and how much they have to spend. Black folks seem to love spending money with every other business on the face of this earth to show them that they can afford to eat, drink, wear and drive anything and everything that a non-Black vendor is selling.

It is my humble opinion that this attitude was a direct result of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. During the Civil Rights Movement, Black leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. worked tirelessly to break down the institutionalized barriers for self esteem reasons and other reasons. The fact that we can celebrate a President Barack Obama is a lasting result of the positive outcomes of the Civil Right Movement. Thus, every minority owes MLK a debt of gratitude.

However, with all of the benefits Civil Rights come some detriments. During the movement, access to White-only restaurants and other societal amenities was seen as a gift. Suddenly, if it was White, it was right in regards to where Black folks should spend their hard earned cash. This attitude persists today among African Americans. Black folks can't spend their money fast enough buying Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Hennessy and every non-Black-owned luxury item.

General Motors, AT&T, NBC and every major corporation in this country has a diversity and inclusion department. Generally, this department is mandated to make sure that it's supplier makeup is reflective of society. In other words, they want to make sure minority suppliers are given contract opportunities.
If General Motors had the diversity spending habits of Black folks, they would have virtually zero African American suppliers.

This is why I propose that every African American adopt a person Rooney Rule. The Rooney Rule was a rule instituted by the NFL in 1993 to help the hiring of African American coaches. The rule simply says that when an NFL head coaching vacancy becomes available, the team is mandated to interview at least 1 minority coach. They do not have to hire that coach but they at least have to interview one.

The positive results of the Rooney Rule speak volumes. In a 4 year span from 2007 to 2011 we saw 5 Superbowl appearances and 2 Superbowl victories by Black NFL head coaches.

2 Things Black Folks Could Learn From The NFL
(1) Your Personal Rooney Rule: Before you spend your hard earned dollars have you considered an African American business? You don't have to spend at a Black-owned business but make a conscience effort to consider it.
(2) Download and use the Around The Way app to support Your Personal Rooney Rule.

Would you adopt a Personal Rooney Rule to support Black-owned businesses?
For the past 235+ years that we have been a country, lawyers have earned their keep by fear. Let me explain. People naturally fear things that they do not understand. The language of law is by nature cryptic. I was watching a lawyer in action once and this partial lawyer said the following when describing a case that he was working on:
"Said suspect surrendered said vehicle at the location in question at fifteen hundred hours".
What does that mean?
He could have easily said "He left the car on the corner at 3 o'clock".

Laws Are Just Rules
We have rules for every facet of our lives but they are not as cryptic as the rules of law. Here is a question for you all? In the board game Monopoly, what happens when you pass GO? You know it. You collect $200. As a child, did you have a legal team to help you understand and interpret the rules of Monopoly?
No...
Why?
Because it's not cryptic.

Think about this blog entry the next time you have to seek legal counsel on something as simple as collecting $200 by passing GO.

What do you think?
So, as many of you know, I am in the startup scene thus I constantly meet tech entrepreneurs and people who want to be tech entrepreneurs. I constantly run into people who say "I'm learning how to code". What? Then, I think to myself "No, you're not". Either you are a coder or you are not a coder. Either you are working on a project or you're not working on a project. Let me explain what I mean.

I am an old school coder. Currently I dabble with javascript, PHP & CSS to build websites. I first started programming in BASIC (Beginner's All-Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) in 1982 on my Commodore 64. The day I got the computer and the day that I opened the BASIC programming guide and wrote a few lines of code, I became a coder.

PERIOD...

Most coders like myself are self taught. When someone says "I'm learning how write code" this generally means that they are placing the responsibility of becoming a coder on someone else.

In summary, don't "Learn how to code" just code! Pick a project and just the best coding language to get it done.

What do you think?
I was very pleased with his response. See below.

It's about putting your elected officials to work for you!

-------

Dear Mr. Hamilton

Thank you for contacting me in opposition to H.R. 3261, the Stop Online Piracy Act. I appreciate hearing from you and I welcome the opportunity to respond.

One of the side effects of the Internet's explosive growth is its impact on intellectual property and digital media. It is undeniable that broadband technology and increased computing power have made it easier to illegally disseminate copyrighted material. According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, intellectual property in the United States is worth more than $5 trillion. The U.S. has been a leader in developing new technologies, and as a result, has been a major target of global theft. I am pleased that President Obama appointed Victoria Espniel as the first Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator at the Office of Management and Budget, a position created by Congress in 2008. She has overseen the Administration's strategy to tackle the wide range of problems associated with intellectual property enforcement including better coordination and cooperation between U.S. government agencies as well as private industry.

As you may know, H.R. 3261 was introduced by Representative Lamar Smith (R-Texas) on April 26, 2011. If enacted, H.R. 3261 would allow the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to seek injunctions against foreign Web sites that steal music, films, software and other intellectual property created by U.S. firms. The bill also includes provisions that could hold third parties — payment-processing and other partners — responsible for piracy and counterfeiting on other sites. The bill would make the unauthorized web streaming of copyrighted content a felony with a possible penalty of up to five years in prison. This bill is currently before the House Judiciary Committee.

I am opposed to H.R. 3261 because the provisions of the legislation would enforce Internet censorship, which would be in direct violation of the First Amendment. The measure would allow federal courts to order any Internet Service Provider to stop recognizing a website on a temporary restraining order issued the same day as the formal complaint is filed. Also, blocking entire domains or websites could suppress vast amounts of protected speech containing no infringing content whatsoever. Under this measure entire domains would be blocked based on finding infringing materials on a single sub-domain. This tactic could stifle technological innovation on the Internet and hinder startup companies from being competitive.

I believe the Administration's strategy of increased cooperation between government agencies and private industry will reduce the intellectual property infringement occurring over the Internet. Agencies will increasingly go after foreign-based web sites and web services that infringe on our intellectual property rights. I got my 1st computer in 1982. It was a Commodore 64 computer. Most of the functionality was text based as there was no concept of drag and drop. I took my 1st computer class in high school in 1984. We learned on IBM XT computers running MS DOS.

Even though I've never been a huge fan of Apple, I respect the game and the ingenuity required to take bold steps and change conventional thinking. The Macintosh computer was a bold step. The boldness is reflected in this Apple Superbowl Ad from 1984.

Before the Macintosh computer we were subject to typing commands from a DOS screen.
If I wanted to look at a large number of Microsoft Word files in a folder and see the file sizes I would type the following from a DOC command prompt "dir *.doc /c /p".
Now we simply double click 1 icon.

We Steve Jobs was ousted from Apple in the early 90s, Apple ceased to innovate.
Upon Steve Jobs' return we saw products such as:
The iPod
The iPhone
The iPad

1) Steve Jobs didn't invent the computer but he made it easy to use and fun. As many of you know, I am a social media consultant and I released a book on social media January 2010 called Social Media Branding in the Age of Obama. It’s my job to stay on top of anything social media related. Last week, Google announced a limited release of Google+ which is Google’s answer to Facebook.
Some of my clients immediately asked me if they should be concerned. Therefore, I needed to test Google+ so I could give them an answer.
Let me start by saying if I were a Google employee, I would find a dark place to hide. Don’t drink the Koolaid. Google+ reminds me of a very good 12th grade programming assignment. Thus, I am not impressed.

2 reasons why you should avoid Google+

1. Artificial Demand:
Google is a master at creating artificial demand. With Google+ it’s classic economics. They simply limit the supply to create an artificial demand. I even got caught up in this mess. Google is playing us all. Don’t believe the hype.

2. No “Wow Factor":
In 1999 when I did my 1st Google search and saw the results I said “Wow, this is sweet” and I’ve been a Google fan ever since.
In 2008 when I joined Facebook and saw the seamless connectivity to friends I said “Wow, this is sweet” and I’ve been a Facebook fan ever since.
In 2011 when I joined Google+ I said “This is all yall working with? WTH”.
Google+ copied Facebook’s interface and integrated accounts using their Gmail API. I am familiar with API integrations and it’s not rocket science. In addition, Google+ has a java enabled drag and drop feature that allows you to classify your friends into groups called circles. There is nothing new here.
That’s pretty much it. No “Wow Factor”. A group of talented 12th graders could have built this in a few months.

For those of you who are familiar with street drug terminology you have heard the word “gank”. As the NWA rapper Ice Cube said “Ganked means being took for your bank or your money or your doe or something…”. The slang word gank is a verb and a noun. According to doubletongued.org, Gank: fake illegal drugs sold as real. As we know, social media can be addictive like drugs and Google is trying to pull off a gank move. They are trying to sell us fake drugs.

Google+ is flour.
Facebook is crack.

What do you think?

For you soft folks, who get offended easily. Excuse the illegal drug references. This publication does not condone the use of illegal drugs.EHAMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12284627846406855119noreply@blogger.com42tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7702559980666962811.post-63531775137365255942011-06-28T06:08:00.011-04:002012-02-08T17:22:44.653-05:00Finish Him!

According to Reuters, the California Supreme Court eliminated a ban on the sale of violent video games to minors. Reuters goes on to say "Governments cannot ban the sale or rental of violent video games to minors because it would violate free-speech rights, the U.S. Supreme Court said on Monday in its first ruling in a video game case."

In 1991 Midway released Mortal Kombat which is/was a very violent fighting game. There have been several sequels to this hit video game. Mortal Kombat was most famous for its "Finishing Moves" which were death blows to be completed at the end of each 1-on-1 match. Finishing Moves consisted of decapitations, gripping out of hearts and spines and other gruesome acts of violence.

Check out Mortal Kombat Finishing Moves Here:

Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player.

Video Ads Powered by AdSmoke.

Now the California Supreme Court says anyone, regardless of age, can buy or rent these games. I was at a dinner party a few years ago and the topic of outsourcing came up. I am the owner of a web development firm and I've been outsourcing since 2003. I have a computer science degree and I used to do the grunt level coding/programming back in the day, but since 2003, I've been working smarter by outsourcing. I design all aspects of the projects that I outsource. I rarely give my coders the latitude to make system architecture decisions.

Anyway, at this dinner party I was heavily criticized by a woman for using technical labor in eastern Europe and Asia. I was told that I am taking away jobs from U.S. based workers. Well, I am a smaller player in a big game. I am only doing what Microsoft, Dell, IBM and every other major tech firm has been doing for decades. In addition, I have U.S. based workers doing customer relations which is extremely valuable.

This female had a nice Italian made purse and some nice shoes which were made in Italy. Then I asked this female "What kind of car do you drive?". She refused to tell me but I knew she drove a Lexus which is Japanese. Then I asked to see the tags on her blouse and pants. She refused but I knew she was wearing Gucci. I told her "You're sending more loot overseas than I ever have. So, before you even think about checking me on sending U.S. jobs overseas, you need to check yourself!"

I compensate my U.S. workers with big dollars, thus they are making a lot of money.

In addition, I would like to quote myself: "Anything goes, when it comes to code, cyber pimpin ain't easy!"
